The EG4/EG4P boards receive and transmit GE services or carry Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) tunnels. Since an EG4P board provides two Power-over-Ethernet ports, the EG4P boards can also create networks in conjunction with the OptiX RTN 310/380. The EG4/EG4P boards are applied to the OptiX RTN 910 NE to receive and transmit Ethernet services over the integrated IP radio. GE services come from user-side equipment (such as base stations, routers, and switches) or Layer 2 networks.
